Prerequisites
Prior completion of the WSU-8.6 (WEStation
Software User) or WSM-8.6 (WEStation Software
Maintenance) is required. Basic Solaris and UNIX knowledge is beneficial.
Description
This course is for the individual who has responsibility for administering
the WDPF® WEStation system. This course will emphasize overall system
loading and backup. Students will load the Solaris operating system, install WDPF WEStation software,
use standard WEStation configuration tools, and install Solaris patches
and third-party software. The student will configure systems for alarm printers,
color printers, touch screens, and membrane keyboards. On completion of the
course, the student will be able to configure several WEStation drops and
backup the WEStation system.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Load, backup and maintain a WEStation system
- Load third-party packages on a WEStation system
- Add system users and assign passwords
- Install peripheral devices on WEStations
- Define, install and download drop-specific configurations
- Mount file systems on the Software Server
