Prerequisites
Prior completion of the SYS (WDPF® System
User), SYM (WDPF® System
Maintenance) or 7LM (WDPF® Level
7 Maintenance) course is required. Control building knowledge is beneficial.
Description
This course allows students to make a transition from the standard WDPF RMX86
software platform to the 8-Level UNIX software platform. This course is designed
for the engineer who is responsible for upgrading a WDPF system to the latest WEStation
8-level system (8.7).
The course emphasizes overall differences between the standard
WDPF RMX86 software platform and the 8-level UNIX software
platform. Students will complete lab exercises that illustrate
hardware and software functionality of both systems.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Build new graphics and convert old graphics to WEStation
format
- Maintain the System Point Directory (spd.dir) file
- Access DPU utility programs to build control
- Implement WEStation "Cmdtool" and "Shelltool" UNIX
commands
- Utilize SCCS to sign out files for editing and replacement
- Perform Query/Download on new and/or modified files
- Define and install WEStation drop configurations
- Perform file transfers to standard WDPF drops
